1992 Vintage Porto Fonseca 75cl

Notas de Prova: Opaco, cor púrpura escuro. Aromas frescos a frutas de bagas. Aromas resinosos encantadoramente perfumados. Intensos sabores a chocolate negro. Na boca é grande, voluptuoso, encorpado, com várias camadas e cheio de textura. Longo e intenso final.

Notas do Ano Vitivinícola: O inverno de 1991/92 foi mais seco do que o habitual. Este tempo seco continuou durante a primavera, com chuvas ligeiras apenas em abril e maio. Em maio, a floração deu-se mais cedo do que o normal e o calor no final do mês assegurou uma boa formação dos bagos. Um verão longo e quente foi interrompido por algumas chuvas fortes no final de agosto e também em setembro.

A vindima começou uma semana mais tarde do que em outros lugares da região, a 28 de setembro, e foi recompensada por uma colheita perfeitamente madura. As notas da vindima escritas a 10 de outubro reportavam: “O equilíbrio da acidez é excelente e isto, combinado com os elevados níveis de açúcar e uma muito boa extração de cor, tem dado como resultado mostos de qualidade excecional. O tempo durante a vindima tem sido o ideal para a produção de vinho.”

Tasting Notes: Opaque, dark purple color. Fresh berry fruit aromas. Charmingly perfumed resinous aromas. Intense dark chocolate flavors. In the mouth it is big, voluptuous, full-bodied, multi-layered and full of texture. Long and intense finish.

Notes on Viticultural Year: The winter of 1991/92 was drier than usual. This dry weather continued during the spring, with only light rains in April and May. In May, flowering occurred earlier than usual, and the warmth at the end of the month ensured good berry formation. A long and hot summer was interrupted by some heavy rains in late August and also in September.

Harvest began a week later than elsewhere in the region, on September 28, and was rewarded by a perfectly ripe crop. The vintage notes written on October 10 reported: “The acidity balance is excellent and this, combined with the high sugar levels and very good color extraction, has resulted in musts of exceptional quality. The weather during the harvest has been ideal for wine production.”
