Situada no Douro Superior, a uma altitude média de 300 metros, onde as condições endafoclimáticas são muito específicas,
salientando-se as amplitudes térmicas muito acentuadas entre o Verão e o Inverno e a escassez de Humidade, a área vitivinícola
é caracterizada pela transversalidade da sua idade, destacando-se as vinhas com mais de trinta anos.
Vindima / Harvest:
O Ano Vitícola de 2020/2021 caracterizou-se por algumas oscilações nos valores médios de temperatura (+0,2º) e
precipitação anual (-2,9mm) relativamente ao valor histórico, considerando-se um ano normal e seco. O valor acumulado de
precipitação ocorrido desde novembro 2020 até final de fevereiro de 2021 foi de 248mm. Apesar dos meses de março e maio
de 2021 muito secos, o Inverno relativamente chuvoso e a precipitação ocorrida nos meses de abril (68,8mm) e junho (57,4mm)
possibilitaram que a água não se apresentasse como um fator limitante ao normal desenvolvimento da videira até uma fase
bastante avançada do ciclo. Junho registou grande instabilidade ao longo do mês, com ocorrência de trovoadas, queda de granizo
e ventos fortes. As temperaturas médias no mês de junho apresentam um desvio de -1,1°C em relação à média dos últimos 20
anos. O acumulado de precipitação ocorrido entre o início de junho e final de agosto foi de 58mm, o que significa que houve
um aumento de 23% face aos valores Históricos. Com as chuvas de setembro (acumulado de 77,2 mm) verificou-se uma
recuperação dos valores de base. No mês de setembro de 2021, a temperatura média registada foi inferior aos valores médios
dos últimos 20 anos (cerca de – 1,4°C). De acordo com os dados recolhidos, o ciclo vegetativo apresentou um avanço ligeiro a
moderado, em comparação à média dos últimos 7 anos (2014-2020). Em suma, podemos concluir que 2021 é um ano de
produtividade ligeiramente superior à média dos últimos 10 anos, com vindima longa, fresca e chuvosa (essencialmente a partir
da 2ª quinzena de setembro). Os mostos são de boa qualidade, mais frescos, ligeiramente menos alcoólicos, potenciando
características dos vinhos a consumir jovens. A temperatura média situou-se acima da normal climatológica nos meses de
Inverno (novembro, dezembro e fevereiro) contrariamente ao mês de janeiro 2021 que apresentou desvios inferiores.

As uvas que deram origem a este vinho foram provenientes da seleção de algumas parcelas situadas a cerca de 450 m de

altitude. A vindima foi feita à mão para caixas de 25 kg na altura ideal de maturação, priviligiando-se os aromas, a concentração
de açucares e a acidez. Seguidamente, foi feita uma criteriosa escolha onde foram eliminados paus, folhas, uvas secas e podres.
As uvas escolhidas foram posteriormente desengaçadas, esmagadas e colocadas na prensa pneumática onde foi extraído o mosto
a pressões reduzidas. A fermentação alcoólica ocorreu em cubas de inox durante cerca de 15 a 20 dias, com temperatura
controlada, para que os constituintes fenólicos e aromáticos que desejámos fossem devidamente extraídos.

Situated in the sub-region of Douro Superior, in an average altitude of 300 metres where the climate conditions are unique,
from which we emphasise the very high thermical range between summer and winter, and the low humidity, the vineyards are
characterized by the transversality of their ages, from two years old until more than thirty years old.

The Viticultural Year 2020/2021 was characterized by some oscillations in the average values of temperature (+0.2º) and
annual precipitation (-2.9mm) relative to the historical value, considering a normal dry year. The accumulated value of
precipitation that occurred from November 2020 until the end of February 2021 was 248mm. Despite the very dry months of
March and May 2021, the relatively rainy winter and the precipitation that occurred in April (68.8mm) and June (57.4mm)
allowed water not to be a limiting factor to the normal development of the vine until a very advanced stage of the cycle. June
registered great instability throughout the month, with the occurrence of thunderstorms, hail falls and high wind. The average
temperatures in June show a deviation of -1.1°C from the average of the last 20 years. The accumulated precipitation between
the beginning of June and the end of August was 58mm, which means an increase of 23% compared to the historical values.
With the rains in September (accumulated 77.2 mm) there was a recovery of the baseline values. In the month of September
2021, the average temperature recorded was below the average values of the last 20 years (about – 1.4°C). According to the
data collected, the vegetative cycle showed a slight to moderate advance, compared to the average of the last 7 years (2014-
2020). In summary, we can conclude that 2021 is a year of slightly higher productivity than the average of the last 10 years,
with a long, cool and rainy harvest (essentially from the 2nd half of September). The musts are of good quality, fresher, and a
little less alcoholic, enhancing the characteristics of wines to be consumed young. The average temperature was above the
climatological normal in the winter months (November, December and February) contrary to the month of January 2021 that
showed lower deviations.

Vinificação / Vinification:

The grapes that origin this wine came from the carefully selection of some vineyards situated about 450m high. The Harvest
was handmade to 25kg cases, on the ideal maturation level, giving advantages to aromas, sugar concentration and acidity.
Next, we’ve made a very carefully selection, on which we’ve eliminated sticks, leafs, and bad grapes. The chosen grapes were
than destemmed, crushed and finally placed on a pneumatic press, from which we’ve extracted this wine from very low
pressures. The alcoholic fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats, from 15 to 20 days, with controlled temperatures, so the
desired phenolic and aromatic components could be dully extracted.
