Vinificação: Os Portos Vintage são provenientes de uma única colheita e possuem características organolépticas excepcionais, apresentando uma cor vermelha escura, uma ótima estrutura e aromas e sabores frutados intensos. Eles são engarrafados dois anos após a colheita e na maioria dos casos passam muitos anos amadurecendo na garrafa. Através deste processo de envelhecimento, os Vintage Ports são mantidos longe da influência da atmosfera, o que os faz perder a cor muito lentamente e manter a sua frutificação típica. A fim de manter a riqueza e o poder, eles não são multados nem filtrados, portanto, lançam uma grande quantidade de sedimentos à medida que amadurecem.
Castas: Old Vines

Notas de prova: Centro roxo-preto profundo com uma borda roxa vívida. A qualidade da fruta é imediatamente aparente no nariz. Apresenta os aromas característicos da maturação e das bagas escuras do Retiro Novo, a propriedade Krohn no vale do Rio Torto, mas também há bagas vermelhas frescas, ameixa fresca e damasco para proporcionar força e vigor. O nariz é muito aromático, notas pungentes de rosa rock misturando-se com salgados manjerona e tomilho e aromas florais de rosa e violeta. No fundo há uma evocação sugestiva da floresta de agulhas de pinheiro e samambaia. O paladar é esbelto e atrevido, com taninos lineares bem enrolados e sabores de frutos silvestres frescos que acompanham o final longo. Um Porto Vintage lindamente expressivo, fino e perfumado, mas com a profundidade e intensidade característica da vindima de 2017.

Conselhos de armazenar e servir: Deve ser decantado antes de ser servido. Uma vez aberta, uma garrafa Vintage deve ser bebida no mesmo dia para manter a excepcional qualidade intocada.

Emparelhamento com comida: Vintage Ports são depois de bebidas de refeição. Tome-os com queijo como Stilton ou Gorgonzola. Mas você também pode incorporá-los em uma refeição, combinando, por exemplo, um Steak au Poivre com um jovem Vintage.

Winemaking: Vintage Ports come from a single harvest and have exceptional organoleptic characteristics, showing a dark red colour, a great structure and intense fruity aromas and flavours. They are bottled two years after the harvest and in most cases spend many years maturing in the bottle. Through this ageing process Vintage Ports are kept away from the influence of the atmosphere, which makes them loose their colour very slowly and retain their typical fruitness. In order to maintain richness and power they are neither fined nor filtered, therefore throwing a large amount of sediment as they mature.
Grape Varieties: Old Vines

Tasting Notes: Deep purple-black centre with a vivid purple rim. The quality of the fruit is immediately apparent on the nose. It displays the hallmark ripeness and dark berry aromas of Retiro Novo, the Krohn property in the Rio Torto valley, but there are also crisp red berries, fresh plum and apricot to provide lift and vigour. The nose is very aromatic, pungent notes of rock rose blending with savoury marjoram and thyme and floral scents of rose and violet. In the background there is an evocative woodland redolence of pine needles and bracken. The palate is svelte and racy, with tightly wound, linear tannins and fresh berry fruit flavours carrying through into the long finish. A beautifully expressive Vintage Port, fine and fragrant, but with the depth and intensity characteristic of the 2017 vintage.

Store and Serve Advices: It should be decanted before being served. Once opened, a Vintage bottle should be drunk the same day to keep the exceptional quality untouched.

Food Pairing: Vintage Ports are after meal drinks. Take them with cheese like Stilton or Gorgonzola. But you can also incorporate them into a meal, combining for instance a Steak au Poivre with a young Vintage.
