VINIFICAÇÃO: 1988 foi um ano agrícola muito complicado, com o tempo fraco durante a Primavera e no início do Verão, mas muito quente em princípios de Setembro. Na altura da colheita, a produção foi baixa e os vinhos estavam, de alguma forma, desequilibrados; no entanto, uma selecção cuidadosa e o envelhecimento em pequenos cascos velhos de carvalho (550l) nas caves de Vila Nova de Gaia, sob o olhar atento do Master Blender da Niepoort, José Nogueira, deram origem a um vinho extremamente elegante.

NOTAS DE PROVA: Sugestões de vermelho-tijolo, mas bastante castanho alaranjado na cor do todo. Fantástico aroma delicado de frutos secos, um toque de casca de tangerina cristalizada e um ligeiro carácter de noz. Muito elegante no palato, com uma textura sedosa envolvente e notas de fruto, conduzindo a um suave final esprituoso.1988 Colheita Port Niepoort 75cl

Tasting Notes: A few hints of brick red but overall quite brown / orange in colour.A wonderfully delicate aroma of dried fruits and a touch of crystallized tangerine peel and slight nutty character.
On the palate very elegant with an all envolving silky texture with fruit coming through and leading
to a soft spirity finish.A wine exhibiting superb elegance and balance.
Vinification
1988 was a very complicated agricultural year with poor weather during the spring and early summer
but very hot weather in early September.
At the time of harvest yields were low and wines were somewhat unbalanced, however with careful
selection and ageing in small old oak casks (550 L) under the watchful eye of Niepoort Master Blender
José Nogueira in the cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, the result is a wonderfully elegant wine.
