O inverno de 1982/3 foi marcado pelo tempo extremamente frio durante o mês de fevereiro, nevando no Pinhão, algo que não acontecia há vinte anos. A floração foi pobre em muitos vinhedos e, em geral, foi um ano excecionalmente frio, inclusive durante o mês de agosto.

No entanto, setembro foi quente. A vindima teve início tarde, no dia 3 de outubro, mas as condições de tempo perfeito prevaleceram. A extração de cor foi mais do que satisfatória e as notas apontadas pelos enólogos descrevem os “mostos” como excecionalmente aromáticos.

NOTAS DE PROVA: Profunda cor cereja borgonha que desvanece na auréola. Fruta rica e harmoniosamente gulosa. Sabores de fruta elegantes e aromáticos. Uva passa, chocolate; compota de ameixa. Corpo médio a encorpado. Taninos arredondados. Vinho complexo e carnudo.1983 Vintage Port Taylor’s 75cl

The winter of 1982/3 was marked by extreme cold weather in February, when snow fell in Pinhão for the first time in twenty years. Poor flowering in many vineyards and overall an unusually cold year, including the month of August. However, September was hot.

The harvest was late, starting on October 3rd ,but perfect conditions prevailed. Colour extraction was more than satisfactory and the winemakers’ notes at the time record that the ‘musts’ were exceptionally aromatic.

TASTING NOTES: Deep cherry, burgundy colour, fading at the rim. Rich, jammy harmonious fruit. Stylish, aromatic, concentrated fruit flavours. Raisin, chocolate; plum jam. Medium-full bodied. Rounded tannins. Complex, fleshy wine.
