Grapes: A blend of Touriga Franca, Tinto Cao, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela (Trincadeira) & Vinhao (Sousao), 80-100 year old vines on schist soil, hand picked, trodden by foot in traditional granite lagares

On release, inky blackish-ruby in colour, this young Port breathes black-fruit and dusty, earthy aromas with alcoholic vinous qualities showing up as a hot note on the nose and palate. It excuses its youth with big, mouth-filling fruit flavours, prunes and plums and blackberries and hints of fennel and cloves, built on a sturdy structure of lemony acidity and fierce, barking tannins.

“Dense, spicy, tannic and rich with some sweetness. Good complexity but it’s far to young to be drinking this now. Lots of promise for the future when it will merit a higher rating. A very good vintage Port indeed. Very good/excellent”
