1985 Vintage Porto Taylor’s 75cl

A colheita de 1985 foi precedida por um inverno excecionalmente frio e húmido. A aparição dos rebentos deu-se no início de abril e a floração por volta do final de maio. O verão foi quente em toda a região e a vindima começou a 26 de setembro. Para o fim da vindima era evidente que o ano tinha produzido vinhos do Porto de excecional qualidade.

O falecido comediante e cartoonista Willie Rushton visitou a Quinta de Vargellas em 1985 e desenhou os seus memoráveis esboços do Vintage Taylor´s em Vargellas.

Cor rubi intensa que agora está mesmo a começar a abrir. Nariz rico, completo e multidimensional, exibindo elementos próprios tanto da juventude como da maturidade. Aromas de frutos silvestres maduros, alcaçuz e caramelo amanteigado com perfumadas notas de violeta. A boca é agora bastante macia e redonda, com taninos aveludados e bem integrados e cheia de ricos sabores de fruta do tipo figo. Final cálido e meloso, cheio de rica fruta gulosa.

1985 Vintage Port Taylor’s 75cl

The Vintage of 1985 was preceded by an exceptionally cold, wet Winter. Bud burst took place early in April and flowering around the end of May. The Summer was hot throughout and the harvest started on 26th September. By the close of harvest it was apparent that the year had produced Port wines of exceptional quality.

The late entertainer and cartoonist Willy Rushton visited Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas in 1985 and drew his memorable sketches of the Taylor’s Vintage at Vargellas.

Tasting Notes: Intense ruby colour, now just beginning to open out. Rich, complete, multidimensional nose, displaying elements of both youth and maturity. Aromas of ripe berry fruit, liquorice and butterscotch with scented violet notes. The palate is now quite smooth and round with velvety well integrated tannins and masses of rich figgy fruit flavour. Warm mellow finish full of rich jammy fruit.
